The Milne Bay area is famous for its visibility ranging up to 50+ meters!! Big currents mean big animals and a its huge range of species. Whilst SCUBA diving along the north coast on the many drop offs you may encounter large pelagic such as Hammerhead and Whale Sharks, as well as Devil Rays and Manta Rays on dives from the MV Chertan liveaboard.

One of the main reasons the MV Chertan Liveaboard has become legendary worldwide and ranked as one of the best places to explore scuba diving is because of the rare critters you can find on many dive sites. When taking a trip to the beautiful reef pinnacles you'll see an incredible array of wildlife residing there from the large pelagic to really rare small creatures, some of which are yet to be scientifically named. With each expedition with us, you could make history!

The province consists of a large cluster of islands on the eastern tip of Papua New Guinea. With seven groups of islands in total, you'll discover some of the most diverse diving the world has to offer. The islands are made up Trobriand, Woodlark & Laghlin, Louisade Archipelago, the Conflict Group, Samarai and finally the D'Entrecasteaux Group. With each area offering a totally unique and refreshing diving experience, you'll be spoiled for choice and lucky to be among the few explorers to ever venture here. Diving around these waters has the best dive sites in the world!

A cruise on the MV Chertan offers unlimited diving for the enthusiast, as well as an introduction to the fascinating local culture.

You’ll encounter everything from dugouts, dugongs and plunging coral drop-offs to towering volcanic mountains, skull caves, thermal springs and on request of course birds of paradise!

Most dive sites are fairly easy diving with little or no current. However, there are dive sites which we visit, which are open-ocean pinnacles where the currents may be stronger. Diving the pinnacles can be tricky and appropriate precautions will be made to ensure your safety is top priority.

With over 100 years of combined experience under our belt in this area and our competent crew we'll show you the most efficient ways of tackling the dive so you can enjoy the experience. We offer an extensive range of PADI courses from Open Water to Divemaster as well as PADI specialty courses such as Nitrox.

Diving with us in this region is truly a once in a lifetime experience, so join the MV Chertan Dive Liveaboard for the perfect SCUBA diving vacation.
